Real Madrid's setback against Real Sociedad has cost them two points, which they need to recover in the following games on Wednesday and Thursday.

Real Madrid, even with Benzema’s and Vinicius Jr.’s powerful attacks, was unable to score any goal against Alex Remiro’s net. Real Sociedad secures its third place and will be present in the Champions League if this situation persists.

During the game, there was controversy given the case that Nacho, who was already given a yellow card, stopped a Real Sociedad throw-in with his hand. However, the central referee decided not to throw out a second yellow card, which would have meant the expulsion of the Spanish defender.

Meanwhile, Barcelona won at home with a solitary goal from Pedri against his Osasuna counterpart. However, they lost Ousmane Dembélé as he had to come off the substitution due to muscular discomfort.

It was a long ball performed by Dembélé at 25’ that cost him the rest of the match and also the following matches. Preliminary examinations determined that the extent of the injury would leave him out of the field for three or four weeks.

In a play of high pressure, Raphinha upset Juanfe's serve, but Frenkie de Jong was able to recover the ball and passed to Pedri. The ball got to Gavi and Ansu Fati, who saw Jordi Alba pass through the field like a bullet. As he received the pass, Alba ran to the center where Pedri was already there to push the ball and make it 0-1 in favor of Barcelona.

Next Wednesday, Barcelona will visit Real Betis in Seville while Real Madrid will face Valencia, which means a golden opportunity for both to either extend Barcelona's advantage or reduce it.

These first months of 2023 will be very busy in terms of calendars as the Copa del Rey and the League alternate every 3-4 days while the European competitions are set to resume in February.

Likewise, the Catalan journalist, Gerard Romero, spread a rumor that Barcelona wants to sign Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina and take the Mexican-American right-back Julian Araujo from the LA Galaxy on loan.
