In a significant development, earlier this week, justice was served. The scale of justice began to balance in the investigation surrounding the two gruesome murders when six suspects in the murder of South African rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his dear friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane were arrested. AKA is a South African rapper, songwriter, record producer, and businessman formidably known in the hip-hop industry. He and Tibz were killed just after 10 PM whilst walking to AKA’s car outside a restaurant. Both AKA and Tibs were said to have died on the scene shortly after the shootings.
This unfortunate incident caused mass grief for AKA’s fans and South Africa, as a whole, resulting in a flow of condolences to their families.
The two gruesome killings took place in February 2023 and it has been an ongoing investigation since, with the first arrest in connection to the case taking place last year in April 2023 marking the commencement of a protracted legal process.. The tragic incident where AKA and Tibz were both shot and killed took place in Durban, outside Wish (the restaurant) on Florida Road, known for its nightlife and boasting an array of restaurants and entertainment hubs.
It was said in a statement by South Africa’s Department of Sports, Arts and Culture that “AKA was counted amongst the best rappers on the continent.”
Following official statements, Police Minister Bheki Cele officially confirmed this information and he mentioned that the apprehended suspects are due to appear in court on Thursday, the 29th of February 2024, the apprehended are six suspects who are associated with the aforementioned murders.
