Evidence gathering is being looked into by the authorities to determine the identification of the suspect, thought to be responsible for this hate crime.

According to the Peel Regional Police, It is said to have occurred sometime at the range of 9 p.m. and midnight, at an Islamic Centre in the city.

A suspecting-looking individual had deliberately thrown two rocks, causing damage to the window of a mosque located in Mississauga on Sunday, confirmed by law enforcement officials. A similar incident was being revered as an infamous anniversary of a fatal attack at Quebec Mosque back in 2017, and this latest attack occurring just on the very same day, has sparked concerns.

Authorities have deemed this incident as being proportionate to a hate crime, which has put religious bodies in a vulnerable position. No fatal or minor injuries have been inflicted by anyone inside the mosque, or out at their premises, as per the representatives of the mosque, which was then conveyed to the authorities.

Human rights advocates, have deemed this act as an appalling slap on the face of humanity, and are now left with worries about this manifesting into a troubling concerning Islamaphobia, which is spreading rapidly around the country and the world.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his disapproval - “I condemn it in the strongest terms possible”. “Islamophobia has no place in any of our communities”, said Trudeau. The Prime Minister has put out a stern warning to every ignitor of hate, especially those belonging to religious groups with extreme radicalization.

The exponential rise in hate crimes has taken aback the city of Toronto in recent years, which specifically saw the Jewish and Muslim communities as being the sole target. Disturbing incidents of antisemitism and Islamophobia against the groups have been taken into cognizance by the Canadian authorities, some of whom have been associating these incidents with the ongoing war on Gaza.

Fear and anxiety amongst vulnerable groups, religious institutions, and human rights advocates have surged to an extent with these incidents, has a selective pattern of hate has been seen globally towards the Islamic religion and the community.
