On Feb 22, 2023, an incident happened in West Bengal's South Parganas Kundakhali village when a lady killed her 4-year-old child with her boyfriend’s help. The woman's boyfriend said he wouldn't take the child along when they eloped, and as a result, the child was savagely battered to death. The lady identifies as Mafuza Piadai, and her boyfriend identifies as Abdul Hossain Sheikh.
Since last year, Piadai has been engaging in an extra-marital relationship with Abdul Hossain Sheikh, a 31-year-old man, and citizen of Ghazir Hat, Kultali. Once Piadai's spouse, Toeb Ali Piadai, transferred to Kolkata for work, Mafuza and Abdul began meeting with each other. Abdul declined to bring Mafuza’s son with them if they eloped, and soon after the two decided to abandon the child and run away together.
On Tuesday morning, Feb 22, the child was playing on the veranda of his house, near the village's main road. According to the child’s uncle, Abu Siddiqui Piadai, when he came home from work later that evening he stated, “I heard from villagers that my nephew was dead.”
Mafuza's lover refused to take the child if they were to be married, and afterwards, the child was abused and tortured at home. According to Piadai, the toddler was killed by a harsh and violent beating.
The victim's uncle reportedly revealed that Abdul frequently considered the child a burden. Moreover, Abu Siddiqui said Abdul had “asked Mafuza to get tobacco to buy time and whipped him. As Mafuza went out, he resuscitated him.”
The victim's body showed evidence of severe injuries caused by horrific abuse and neglect. Authorities are currently investigating what led to the toddler's passing, as reported by Inspector Masood Hasan, Assistant Police Director for the Baruipur region.
The culprit couple is currently on the run, trying to desperately escape the crimes they have committed. According to sources who spoke to India Today, the body has been submitted for a postmortem examination, and the police are expecting the investigation report. The child’s father, Toeb Ali Piadai, filed a formal complaint with the Baruipur Police Station, and no other reports have been made on the case.
