Wakan Village is situated in the heart of the Al Hajar Mountains, where time seems to stand still. The journey to Wakan is an adventure as one traverses through winding mountain roads, witnessing the landscape changing hues from sandy gold to lush green and eventually reaching the village's gateway, marked by traditional Omani watchtowers.
The village lies at an altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level, and the view from the top is stunning. The mountains are lush and green, and the valleys are dotted with traditional Omani villages. Additionally, during the spring season, you can see the entire village decorated with pink colored cherry blossoms, which is a rare sight in Oman. The best time to visit Wakan is during the spring or fall when the weather is mild because the temperature reaches a scorching 47 degrees during the summer. It might hamper your trekking plans, so wear comfortable shoes, since there will be a lot of walking. You have to climb about 500 steps to reach the mountain's peak. If you are planning on hiking, be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks because, after a point, it can get extremely exhausting.
