The Jonas Brothers have made the headlines yet again, but this time, leaving their fans heartbroken!
Joe Jonas, the eldest of the Jonas Brothers, has filed for divorce from Sophie Turner, after 4 years of marriage. Soon after the news spread on media outlets regarding their divorce, the couple posted a joint statement on their respective Instagram accounts, which read:
"After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
Joe Jonas reportedly filed the paperwork to end his marriage on September 5, 2023, in Miami-Dade County, Florida, while Sophie Turner was in the UK. The singer has filed for divorce stating that "the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken".
The 34-year-old singer tied the knot with The Game of Thrones actress in May 2019 after dating for over 3 years in a secretive ceremony at a Las Vegas after the Billboard Music Awards. The couple has two daughters, 3-year-old Willa and a 14-month-old daughter (whose name has not been made public), and have been living with Jonas in Miami. According to reports, Joe Jonas has asked for 'shared parental responsibilities' for their daughters as both are capable of paying child support. The former couple are expected to have joint custody of their daughters.
Jonas and Turner also had a prenup signed which will be enforced when settling the divorce. Ever since the news of the couple's decision to separate broke out, there have been various reasons being reported for the couple's split, though neither of them has commented on any of them.
However, the couple's decision to separate has been amicable, it has left their fans shocked as all seemed well between the two. Turner was recently seen at the Jonas Brothers tour launch in New York's Yankee Stadium on August 12th where the couple seemed deep in love with each other when Jonas gave a sweet shoutout to Turner right before singing "Hesitate" a song he wrote for her.
