SAG Awards: A Look at the Winners

The SAG Awards are the only award ceremony in Hollywood to honor merely the actors, and no other parts of a film’s crew.

Saturday, February 24, 2024, saw all our favorite TV and movie stars take to the red carpet once more, as Hollywood’s award season continues in full swing. This time, they were brought together for the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards.

In 2007, awards were added for stunt ensembles in film and television. There are 16 trophies to be handed out, and these are voted on by SAG-AFTRA’s robust and diverse membership of more than 130,000 performers – the largest voting body on the awards circuit.

But who is SAG?

The Screen Actors Guild was an American union that represented over 100,000 on-air and background workers in the field. In 2012, they merged with AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists). They were in the news for most of 2023, as writers went on strike demanding better working conditions. Now that all is well again, let’s dive into the nominees and big winners of the night.

The award ceremony aired live on Netflix this year and is still available on the streaming platform. It runs for three hours and 15 minutes.

To close out the 2023 awards season, viewers can look forward to the eagerly anticipated and extremely sought-after Oscars (also known as the Academy Awards), which is scheduled for Sunday, March 10, 2024. It can be streamed on Hulu or ABC.
