Selena Gomez is a viral celebrity; she has had many fans since she was a teen, and the number of her fans has increased. Gomez is a singer and actress. She started her acter career on a children's show, “Barney & Friends” and now she has the most followers on Instagram. Gomez took a social media break and returned this month and took the ranking for most followed.

Selena Gomez has 383 million followers, more than Kylie Jenner. Gomez took a break from Instagram due to rude comments on social media. Gomez held the record for most followers before her Instagram break. Jenner had the most followers on Instagram while Gomez was offline: Jenner has 380 million followers. Gomez thought it was time to go back online, and she is stronger than ever. Gomez never deactivated her TikTok because she said it is “less hostile.”

Gomez gave intel on what was commented under her posts and why she had to take a step back from the media. "People can call me ugly or stupid, and I'm like, Whatever. But these people get detailed. They write paragraphs that are so specific and mean. I would constantly be crying. I constantly had anxiety…I couldn't do it anymore. It was a waste of my time," she said. Gomez later added that she had her assistant post for her so she could still be connected to her fans.

On Thursday, Gomez went live on TikTok and talked to her fans about the drama that occurred this week between her and Jenner. Recently, there has been drama mentioning that Jenner was throwing shade at Gomez about her TikTok eyebrow video, which was all a miscommunication due to the public. On TikTok live, Gomez said, "I'm gonna be taking a second from social media 'cause this is a little silly, and I'm 30, I'm too old for this. But I love you so much and I'll see you guys sooner than later. I'm just gonna take a break from everything."

Selena Gomez is the number one woman followed on Instagram; she deserves this more than anyone. Gomez had a tough life dealing with her sickness, Lupus, which is a condition that causes chronic inflammation in many different parts of the body her skin, joints, lungs, and kidneys. She had a kidney transplant that helped her. Selena Gomez deserves to celebrate getting her title back rather than hiding from her haters.
