What Games Are Being Released in 2024?

The year 2023 brought the gaming world some incredible new releases. From the highly-anticipated Mortal Kombat 1 to indie favourites like The Exit 8, you might think that this year’s new releases will struggle to compete.

But as technology continues to evolve, so do our characters, and so do the skills of our game developers.

2024 is sure to be packed full of hot new releases. Here are a few you might want to keep your eye on:

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (23rd April) aims to reignite the spirit of classic JRPGs, with hand-drawn visuals, intricate turn-based combat, and an expansive world bursting with secrets.

In October, 2024 (release date TBA), Starfield from Bethesda Game Studios promises a sci-fi epic unlike any other, allowing players to forge their paths across a vast galaxy filled with alien planets and interstellar intrigue.

Here is one for the storytellers. Life by You (March 5, 2024) takes an introspective turn, offering a touching exploration of relationships and human connection in a vibrant, customizable city.

Later in the year, Avowed (release date TBA) from Obsidian Entertainment, delves into the dark and intricate world of Eora, offering a rich RPG experience with branching narratives and impactful choices.

The ever-popular survival genre gets a dose of innovation with Nightingale (February 2024). Set in a fantastical Victorian world, shrouded in a mysterious fog, the game blends exploration, crafting, and base-building with a unique emphasis on symbiosis with the game's creatures.

For those seeking a truly chilling experience, Black Myth: Wukong (August 20, 2024) brings the classic Chinese legend of the Monkey King to life in a breathtaking action RPG filled with acrobatic combat and mythical beasts. If you’re a fan of stunning graphics, take a look at the trailer for this release.

But it's not all epic journeys and mythical creatures. There's plenty for players who like their games a little smaller and more personal. Momodora: Moonlit Farewell ( February 11, 2024) delivers a pixel-perfect send-off to the beloved indie series, while Another Code: Recollection ( January 26, 2024) brings a classic adventure point-and-click game back to life with a modern makeover.

And for those who yearn for the golden age of platformers, Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course (June 30, 2024) finally arrives, adding new bosses, weapons, and levels to the original's charmingly run-and-gun gameplay. As the Cuphead series comes to an end, it’s hard to believe the first instalment was released in 2017!

Of course, no gaming year is complete without some major franchise entries. Tekken 8 (release date TBA) promises to redefine the fighting game genre with revamped visuals, new characters, and innovative mechanics.

The 2020s have been the years of reboots and prequels, and the gaming world is no exception. The beloved Tomb Raider series, capturing the hearts of gamers since 1996, gets a modern refresh with the Tomb Raider I-III Remasters (February 2024), allowing players to experience Lara Croft's origin story in stunning detail.

And for the fans of superhero mayhem, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (release date TBA) from Rocksteady Studios lets you step into the shoes of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang as they take on the mighty Justice League. If you’re new to the gaming scene, but a fan of the DC films and comics, this could be a great point of entry!

From genre-bending adventures to nostalgic throwbacks, there's something for everyone to lose themselves in. So mark your calendars, stock up on snacks, and prepare to embark on your next great gaming adventure – the journey begins now!
