A 46-year-old doctor named Pawan Laxman Sable reportedly killed himself on Friday, February 17, 2023, at his house in Maharashtra's Thane district. A suicide note was discovered at his home in the Happy Valley Society of the Manpada area, but no other evidence or reasons as to why Sable committed suicide has been found yet.
The deceased was practicing at the KEM Hospital in Mumbai's Parel region, according to the Thane police. The body has been given to the police for a postmortem examination, and an Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been issued for the case.
The deceased doctor had earlier submitted his resignation application, but his wife had requested that management not accept it, the dean of the KEM hospital informed the police. Although his wife had requested that his resignation be denied, Sable's resignation was still approved on February 17.
The police attempted to uncover and make sense of Sable and his family dynamic, and it had been later revealed that his wife and children had been living apart from him for the past few weeks due to his drinking. According to the Free Press Journal, Girish Gode stated “he has been drinking for the last 15 years and he has two children studying in 12th standard. Due to Sable’s drinking habit, his wife left him and he was staying with his mother for the last few days. Also, the children were preparing for the HSC board examination.”
The horrific event was discovered as Sable's driver reached his residence on Friday around 9 in the morning. He banged on the door several times, but there was no answer or sign of the doctor.
The driver notified Sable’s wife of the strange occurrence. As the wife arrived to the residence, she opened the door and saw the crime scene herself; Sable was hanging from the ceiling. Afterwards, the incident was immediately reported to the police.
The reasons for Sable’s suicide is unknown, and as the police investigated the scene, all they could find was the suicide note. The note disclosed that “he hasn’t blamed anyone but mentioned his assets to be given to his wife.” Currently, there is an ongoing investigation on the case, but no new information has been released to the public since the occurrence was reported.
