On Wednesday, a 13-year-old boy opened fire at his school in Belgrade, killing eight children and a security guard while injuring six others and a teacher. The suspect, who was a student at the school, had two guns and several bullets. He called the police himself after the shooting and waited until he was arrested. The suspect's father was also arrested, and the mother was taken into custody. As per Serbian law, the boy will not be held criminally responsible due to his age and will be placed in a psychiatric institution. Although Serbia has a high level of gun ownership, mass shootings are uncommon.
