McDonald’s, Starbucks, and Disney Under Boycott

People all over the world are boycotting Starbucks, McDonald’s, and Disney due to their pledges to support Israel. People online have rallied together to boycott these three industry giants, as well as countless other companies, as a way to respond to the conflict between Israel and Hamas. The boycotts have had a negative impact on all three companies’ stock prices. 


In some Arab countries, these companies have released statements affirming that they have no ties with Israel. However, the population continues to avoid them altogether. In the United States, some branches of Starbucks and McDonald’s started offering free drinks or side dishes to incentivize people to shop at the establishments. 


Customers are boycotting Starbucks for suing its union, Starbucks Workers United, for speaking out in favor of Palestinians. The boycott is happening during Starbucks’s peak season. According to a former worker, explained that the holidays usually bring a lot of business for the coffee empire. People are boycotting the fast-food giant McDonald’s for offering free food for Israeli troops. 


Many people online are urging others to eat local to avoid the chain at all costs. Disney pledged $2 million in support of Israel, leading to many canceling their Disney+ subscriptions. Boycotts are a popular way of nonviolent protest. People have been reminding others online that “you vote with your dollars”.
