Old Trafford rumbles for the BIG D

Manchester United has earned themselves a sweet victory and top-three position on the Premier League table. Erik Ten Hag has checkmated Pep Gladiola in the biggest game of the season, the Manchester Derby.

Manchester City had only one shot on target, which was scored by twenty seven year old Jack Grelish during the sixth minute of the game. It was their lowest tally in the Premier League under their manager Pep Gladiola.

Manchester United's last ten games at Old Trafford consisted of ten wins, twenty six scored goals, four conceded, and seven clean sheets.

Eighteen year old forward Alejandro Garnacho made a massive impact on the game when he was subbed in during the second half of play. He played a huge role in getting the assist for Bruno Fernandez's goal during the eighty second minute. That made the Reds tie in due time.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United will resume talks to extend Alejandro Garnacho’s contract in the next weeks and months. Garnacho’s contract is set to expire in June 2024. Negotiations have been ongoing for months as Manchester United wants Garnacho to be happy with a new long term deal and improved salary.

Marcus Rashford sustained an injury during the match on Saturday. Erik Ten Hag thought that Rashford was an important player in the game, as he scored the winning goal during the eighty second minute. The manager has spoken out about the injury sustained by the forward.

“Did I think about taking Rashford out? Not at all. It was a blow, a bruise, but that’s the next step for Marcus to deal with. You have to suffer at the highest level, to win matches and trophies, sometimes it has to be painful. He (Rashford) has shown he can do it. He’s resilient, he wants to win titles.”

Erik Ten Hag spoke about the composure of his Devils during the trump match at Old Trafford. “One of the goals at the start of the season was to regain that connection with the Manchester United fans,” Ten Hag said. “Today was an example of that unity. With the right atmosphere it’s difficult for any opponent to play against us.”

Erik Ten Hag responded very realistically to being questioned on the run for the title. “Don’t do that, we are not even halfway through the season, it's only January. There is a lot to come, a lot of grips, in our game we have to work on.”

Erik Ten Hag touched on the topic of tactics during his interview with the press post match. “People talk about tactics, but one of the most important things a manager changes is mentality and resilience. One moment can change a game, and we are much better with dealing with that than a few months ago.”

Erik Ten Hag has spoken about maintaining and keeping his place in the top four. “We can achieve something in this season, I am convinced, but there's still a long way to go to restore Manchester United. We approach it game by game.”

Ten Hag has wrapped up his press conference by speaking on the strong mindset and mentality of the team that he is currently building. “We've seen it all season, there’s a fighting spirit in this team. They can handle setbacks and today is another example of that.”
