Qatar’s interest in Manchester United is not for a minority share. They want full control of Manchester United.
Qatar wants to demonstrate to UEFA that Manchester United would not be managed by the same structure as PSG, which is controlled by Qatar Sports. Investments in United could be managed by Qatar investment Authority.
A high powered Qatari individual and other wealthy investors are seriously considering an offer, fully independent of the Paris-Saint Germain ownership.
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad AL Thani, plans to own both Manchester United and PSG. Each of them would then be controlled by a separate entity so that they could participate in the Champions league.
Multiple sources say that Joel and Avaram Glazer have not ruled out the prospect of attracting a wealthy investor to help fund Manchester United’s plans to upgrade Old Trafford and United’s Carrington training ground.
Other relatives like Kevin, Bryan, Darcie, and Edward Glazer are said to be in favor of a full sale, partly because of the financial gain, but also because they’ve been hurt by the fan outcry against them.
Those who wish to buy Manchester United will have to submit a one-paragraph-only offer — disclosing simply their bid and the percentage of the club they will take by next Friday.
Should the bidders not meet the Glazers’ criteria, and the Americans are thought to want around six billion pounds, they could instead go down the investment route.
