Why are GT players wearing new kits in the IPL 2023 match against SRH?

On Monday, Gujrat Titan players were seen wearing a new jersey, instead of the dark blue jersey they have been wearing since their debut season in the year 2022.

Gujrat Titans missed the chance to become the first team to make the playoffs in the ongoing IPL 2023 season when they lost to Mumbai Indians at Wankhede last week, but Chennai Super Kings lost to Kolkata Knight Riders at home on Sunday, GT have the last chance when they face Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday. They remain at the top of the table with 16 points from 11 matches.

GT captain Hardik Pandya was seen wearing a lavender jersey at the time of the toss. He wore it to raise precaution and awareness for this deadly battle, cancer. Cancer is a battle fought by millions of people all around the world, and as a team, we feel responsible for raising precautions and awareness about this deadly disease. Lavender is usually the color of oesophageal cancer but is now used for symbolizing all types of cancer.

"Cancer is a battle fought by millions of people in India and all around the world, and as a team, we feel responsible for raising awareness of this deadly disease. This disease takes millions of thousands of lives every day. Wearing lavender T-shirts is our way of showing respect for cancer patients, survivors and their families. He added that we hope that our actions will inspire others to respect and support those fighting this disease," said Hardik Pandya, at the toss where Aiden Markram, SRH captain, chose to bowl first.

In 2015, the Delhi Capitals (then Daredevils) took an initiative, led by former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, a cancer survivor, and another member of the team. They had set up a non-profit organization called YouWeCan Foundation. This organization works with cancer patients as well and works for their welfare.

SRH made only one change to their eleven for the do-or-die match which was substituting Marco Jansen for Glenn Phillips. GT, meanwhile, made three changes for the match: "Vijay Shankar was hit by a ball in the net yesterday, so in comes Sai Sudarshan. Dasun Shanka makes his debut in this match and Yash Dayal makes his return."

Gujarat Titans has one match left to play this season which is against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru on May 21.GTwill has to win both to guarantee a finish in the top two.
