Manchester United defender Raphael Varane had his say on the condition and mindset of the current team that he is working with. “I think we have to believe, and we need that confidence for winning trophies. We are already improving a lot and we are in a good moment. We have to stay calm but be ambitious at the same time. We are much better now and we have to keep going,” the defender said.

Erik Ten Hag commented on Jadon Sancho’s situation at Old Trafford. Sancho played his first game in the cup semi-final last night. Prior to the game, he was out on a motivation vacation and training with Dutch coaches in the Netherlands, to treat his lack of self-belief.

“It was great to see the love of the fans for Jadon Sancho, he made a great comeback. He was smiling during the last few weeks at Carrington. I hope he can contribute to his momentum. He will help as a number ten and also as a winger,” Ten Hag commented.

World Champion Lisandro Martinez also commented on his surroundings at work. “The vibe and the atmosphere in the dressing room is really positive and I am proud we’re on this good run. It shows that we are on the right road and we are making progress.”

Goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who rarely starts for United, had a good game in the semi final of the Carabao Cup. “There is a really, really good atmosphere at the moment. I think there is a lot of momentum… that’s been a key word here, trying to get this (Old Trafford) back to a real fortress.”

Heaton further went on to say that “Erik Ten Hag has set the boundaries on what is acceptable and what isn’t, and has been very clear. As players you respond to that. The football ideas he’s got across have been good so far. It’s important we keep it up.”

Erik Ten Hag wrapped up his press conference against Forest by saying “when you’re a Manchester United player, you have to match the standard of this great club.”
